Medical stones are a type of compound mineral or medicinal rock which is non-toxic and harmless to organisms and has certain biological activity.
The minerals within the stones can effectively improve the soil quality and promote the growth of succulents.
The surface of the medical stones are filled with pores making it water-permeable and air-permeable, hence improving the airflow and drainage of water.
As medical stones are heavy in weight, they help to hold down the soil and prevent it from being blown away by strong wind or to hold down light weight materials within the soil mix and prevent them from floating up to the surface during watering.
It is also useful in adding weight to your potting mix to even up the weight of a pot that is potted with a top heavy plant.
Due to its attractive colour and nature, medical stones are commonly used as a top dressing for succulents / cacti / miniature terrariums / indoor potted plants.
